Planning a trip around Vietnam? A rental car gives you the freedom to reach beaches, mountains and hidden spots at your own pace. Our office is in Nha Trang, and we deliver cars in every city listed below. Here's everything you need to know before you book with VinRent.
What you need to rent
To rent a self-drive car you need a valid driving licence and your passport. Foreign visitors can drive on their national licence β we provide a free certified Vietnamese translation, and an International Driving Permit is handy to carry too. A refundable deposit is taken at handover (usually in cash, not at online checkout) and returned when you bring the car back in the same condition.
Protection you choose
Cover is up to you. At checkout you choose a protection plan β from a basic option to full Premium cover that brings your excess down to zero. Each plan's excess is shown before you book, so there are no surprises if something happens on the road.
Pickup and delivery
Free self-pickup is available at one place only β our office in Nha Trang. In every other city we serve, and in Nha Trang too, we bring the car to you: to your hotel or your address, and to the airport in the cities where we cover one, for a fixed fee shown up front. Flying in? Send us your flight number and the car is waiting when you land. Finishing your trip in a different city is possible too, for a fixed one-way fee.
Transparent pricing
Mileage is unlimited β drive as far as you like, with a small surcharge only on days you cover more than 200 km, and a further one on days above 400 km. The longer you rent, the lower your daily rate, automatically. Protection, a child seat, GPS or delivery are optional and priced clearly. Before you confirm you see the full total β rental, extras, delivery and tax β so you always know what you'll pay.
Driving in Vietnam
Vietnam drives on the right. The main routes between cities are well paved, and the coastal stretches are among the most scenic drives in the country. Keep to speed limits, watch for motorbikes in town, and refuel at any Petrolimex station. Note that cars must stay in Vietnam β cross-border trips aren't allowed. Prefer not to drive? Frequently asked questions
What documents do I need to rent a car in Vietnam?
A valid driving licence and your passport. Foreign visitors can use their national licence β we provide a free certified Vietnamese translation. Documents are checked at handover.
Do I need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?
In practice Vietnam accepts a national licence with a translation, which we provide free of charge. An IDP is still handy to carry, but it isn't strictly required.
How does the deposit work?
A refundable deposit is taken when you collect the car β usually in cash β and returned in full when you bring it back undamaged. The amount depends on the car class and is shown before you book.
Is protection included in the price?
